Scott Haug Foundation - President's Letter

June 8th, 2007

Avast me Matey’s,

September breezes will mean that it’s time to set your sails and be trailin’ the wind to the 23rd annual Scott Haug Hill Country Audiology Retreat. Mark your calendars now for “Pirates o’the Hill Country”; September 27th to 30th and make plans to join us at the T Bar M Ranch and Resort in New Braunfels, Texas. Thar be treasure in the Texas Hill Country and it’s yours for the takin’!

Aye, once you’ve arrived you can follow the map to your first treasure. Several renowned speakers have agreed to offer pearls of wisdom throughout the event. David Fabry, Ph. D. will give the real scoop, and explain the meaning behind the marketing terms the hearing instrument manufacturers have been using. Robert Sweetow, Ph.D. uncovers ways to use LACE, “Listening and Auditory Communication Enhancement”, training to improve the auditory skills of patients. Drs. Fabry and Sweetow will also band together to teach the wonders of Open Fitting Technology. Gyl Kasewurm, Au.D exposes “The Secret to thriving in an Audiology practice" while Cheryl DeConde Johnson, CCC-A, Ed.D divulges ways to help our young ones during, "Yo Ho Ho": Developing an Effective Education Audiology Program”.

Follow the treasure map carefully and it will lead you to our Corporate Sponsors. Avast, they’ve asked to host the Thursday evening wine and cheese event, giving each of you a chance to learn about their wares. We’ve given them extra time to reveal their treasure during mini lectures they’ll be giving during our meals.

At the end of a long day of learning there will be time to play. Join your buckos in the golf scramble where we pair Captains (experts) with crew (beginners), set on your tube to conquer the high seas o’ the Comal River, join the annual kickball game, and then dance with the wenches and scallywags around you at our evening dances. Eventually your treasure map will lead you to the most cherished gem in all o’the land, The Casa. Relax, and enjoy time with your mates and colleagues, mingle with our speakers, corporate sponsors and enjoy the riches of fellowship

If ye have ne’er been t’ the Scott Haug Hill Country Audiology Retreat before, this be the year to come and see what in the name o’ Davey Jones all the rattlin’ on be about!
